The Point of Single Contact is still a new institution with two tasks:

• Providing information on matters concerning recognition of foreign certificates and professional qualifications acquired abroad and handling recognition procedures.

• Informing companies about regulatory requirements for setting up a company and active monitoring of approval procedures, which companies have to go through as a prerequisite of their business operations.

In the State of Rheinland-Pfalz, the task of the Point of Single Contact is performed by a single body for both of the Struktur- und Genehmigungsdirektionen Nord und Süd (North and South structural and approval administrations) in Koblenz and Neustadt. The objective of the Point of Single Contact is to reduce administrative burden for Applicants and to facilitate establishment of business operations. Points of Single Contact are available in all German states and in all Member States of the European Union. Their legal basis is formed by two European Union directives: the EU Services Directive and the EU Professional Qualifications Recognition Directive.

However, the State of Rheinland-Pfalz offers it even to non-EU citizens.

When it comes to supporting companies in obtaining official permits and approvals, they are available for all domestic and foreign companies from all industries.
